Luxury Home Tour Spotlight: Charles R. Stinson Architects with Hage Homes

This self-guided tour runs three weekends in June: June 6-8, 13-15, and 20-22 and showcases the work of the area’s most sought-after custom builders. The tour is perfect for those who admires architecture and fine craftmanship, those with champagne wishes and caviar dreams, those who are looking for unique ideas to incorporate into their own home, and those interested in hiring a custom builder to create their very own dream home.

Every week through the end of the tour, we will feature one or more of the 14 luxury homes on this blog, so be sure to check back for the full lineup.

Home #2

418 Halsey Ave. SE, Buffalo, MN 55313

Modern. Clean. Natural. Light-filled. This isn’t just a luxury home, it’s a work of art. Situated on the shore of Lake Martha in Buffalo, this unique flat-roofed 5,200-square-foot home is a composition of vertical and horizontal forms and planes, with expanses of glass drawing in light and views of the lake.

The homeowners, who studied architecture, hired one of the best architecture firms in town—Charles R. Stinson Architecture + Design to collaborate with builder Kerry Hage in creating their dream home.

The back of the home—facing the lake—consists of walls of glass, opening to a soaring deck, giving the home the appearance of “floating” across the site, like you’re on a beautifully crafted yacht. The interior design, by CRS Interiors, a branch of Charles R. Stinson Architecture + Design, is a mix of calming earth-toned colors and regional stone, glass, wood, and metal, reflecting the homeowners’ desire for natural elements that stand the test of time. The maple-and-glass stairwell leading down to the lower level is just one example of how every square inch was carefully designed. Unique features include a lower level “loom room” overlooking the lake, a two-story fireplace, a guitar display wall, gallery spaces for exhibiting artwork (including a beloved piece from India), a game room, a cozy sitting room, a family room/media center with moveable furniture pieces perfect for entertaining, and a private patio off the master suite wrapped in decorative wood for privacy from the street.
