Luxury Home Tour Spotlight: OSLO Builders (Edina)

This self-guided tour runs three weekends in June: June 6-8, 13-15, and 20-22 and showcases the work of the area’s most sought-after custom builders. The tour is perfect for those who admires architecture and fine craftmanship, those with champagne wishes and caviar dreams, those who are looking for unique ideas to incorporate into their own home, and those interested in hiring a custom builder to create their very own dream home.

Every week through the end of the tour, we will feature one or more of the 14 luxury homes on this blog, so be sure to check back for the full lineup.

Home #9

5929 Ashcroft Avenue, Edina, MN 55424

After acquiring a large lot in Edina bordering St. John’s park, OSLO Builders designed the ideal house for a young family. The end result is a five-bedroom, five-bathroom cottage-style home; a cozy, elegant house blending traditional OSLO elements—natural materials, clean lines, classic styling—with the smart planning of modern architecture.

From the street, a large front porch paints a welcoming first impression. Once inside, the main level space welcomes large gatherings, with an open configuration between the gourmet kitchen, casual dining area, and large great room. Architectural details define the purpose of the individual spaces, giving the rooms their own personality.

The bedrooms are conveniently arranged on two levels with an expansive master suite and three bedrooms upstairs, and a guest suite on the lower level. The master suite features a sophisticated and serene master bath and soaking tub, leading to a large walk-in closet which is connected to the laundry room by a pocket door.

The bottom level features a walkout, a large bar area, and an elaborate custom-built media room with state-of-the-art audio/visual components, including an acoustic theater and surround-sound. (Another high-tech feature gives the family the opportunity to control their home’s lighting system from their smartphones; no more coming home to a dark house after a night out or weekend away.)

When the weather outside is frightful, the homeowners can work in their heated garage year-round—and keep from going stir-crazy in winter. And when the sun is shining, they can entertain on their backyard patio or catch some shade and the breeze from their screened-in porch off the kitchen.
