One of the primary purposes of the AIA Minnesota Homes By Architects Tour is to showcase the talent of local AIA registered architects and give visitors the opportunity to learn firsthand how homeowners and architects can collaborate to create dream homes. Meet three architects who are participating in this year’s tour—each with varying experience and expectations.
This is Sarah Nettleton’s second time participating in the tour. She considers last year a “rousing success.” Nettleton’s home on this year’s tour (#9) is owned by a couple who visited the tour in 2012. Nettleton says she enjoys engaging with tour visitors and appreciates the effort they make to see the home she has designed. “Standing in the space makes it real in a way that photos and words just can’t do,” states Nettleton.
Kurt Gough of Shelter Architecture is new to the tour, having heard from colleagues and past participants that it produced qualified job leads. Gough is looking forward to sharing the updated modern mid-century home (#17) with visitors and showcasing how well-planned renovations can transform the entire dynamic of a home.
Another newcomer, Michael Huber, hopes to showcase the value his team at Michael Huber Architects LLC can bring to a project. “I look forward to meeting potential clients and talking with people who are genuinely interested in design,” notes Huber. He also is excited for the proud owners of the home he worked on (#18) to have the chance to share the result of their vision.
The AIA Minnesota Homes By Architects Tour will be held September 21 & 22. Tickets are now available online at HomesByArchitects.org.
