The advocates for community through musical excellence turn up the volume on music-education fundraising

Event: The Advocates for Community through Musical Excellence (ACME) held a benefit at El Nuevo Rodeo on Wednesday, February 13, for children who participate in El Sistema, a music-education program.

Cause: Between ticket sales, auction items, and personal donations, nearly $4,000 was raised to go toward providing instruments, art and school supplies, food, and transportation to the students in El Sistema.  

Going Once, Going Twice: The highly coveted auction item of an in-home performance and dinner provided by Ken Freed and his Minnesota Orchestra quartet sold for $520.

Star-Studded: Notable attendees included Anthony Ross, principal cellist of the Minnesota Orchestra; Erin Keefe, concertmaster of the Minnesota Orchestra; violinist Michael Sutton; and Doug Schmitt of Schmitt Music stores.
