No crowds, No coupons

If, like me, you didn’t (and don’t) do Black Friday, then this is your week. Forget the malls and crowds and impersonal gifts – go local at these inspired shopping events:

Greed Gone Wild
Every now and then, I get a little help on the pages of MNMO from wardrobe, set, and tabletop stylists. They are the true behind-the-scenes style-makers in this town, the people who know just how to cinch a waist, fold a napkin, and dress a turkey. They also hoard their props all year (just one more handbag wouldn’t hurt), until this event, when they sell it all: art, vintage and designer clothing, shoes, hats, handbags, linens, dishes, furniture, and jewelry. It’s like some really chic people bought a ton of really chic stuff and are now selling it for cheap. Oh wait–that’s, like, totally how it is.

When: Nov. 29-30, 8-5 p.m., and Dec. 1, 9-4 p.m.
Where: Patina Props, 2014 Central Ave., NE Minneapolis

Joynoelle, Penny Larsen Jewelry, and Apiary Design
I’m a bit starstruck just thinking about this. All three of these designers will be in the same place, at the same, to help you create something beautiful to give or keep: handbags, hats, coats, dresses, jewelry, personal stationary, or note cards. This is like the perfect slumber party, minus the Holly Hobby sleeping bags and Ouija board.

When: Friday, Nov. 30, 4-8 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 1, 10-4 p.m.
Where: Joynoelle Boutique and Atelier, 312 West 42nd St., Minneapolis, 612-209-7822

Luna Vinca Holiday Event
This is a gem of a floral shop, but also one of my favorites for little gifts. The event features jewelry from Rox (meet Robyne), and holiday decor ideas (gift to self!). Spend $50 on the latter and receive a $15 gift certificate.

When: Saturday, Dec. 1, noon-4 p.m.
Where: 3344 Hennepin Ave. South, Minneapolis, 612-823-6178
