Our House

We home-décor enthusiasts may have felt a little drought the past couple of years as the economy slowed—and so did the sources where we could shop to feather our nests. But 2012 has been good to us—and the outlook continues to improve. Opening next week, October 5, is Arhaus, in the Galleria.

What you can expect is 15,000 square feet of furnishings arranged in vignettes, surrounded by details like marble floors, wrought-iron gates, and a river-rock fireplace (minimalists need not apply?): slipcovered, leather, and fitted sofas, dining room tables and chairs, bedroom furniture and private-label bedding, library and office furnishings, antiques and reproductions, media centers, and seasonal accessories.

Even better, Arhaus has a Rainforest Policy—all wood must come from sustainable resources, plus recycled and upcycled materials are used where possible. Pieces are exclusive to Arhaus and handmade by artisans worldwide. Styles will vary, from French to Indonesian influences. According to the press release, each piece is unique to Arhaus stores and is one-of-a-kind.

The first 500 customers through the door will receive a gift bag, so mark your calendars for October 5 at 10 a.m.! Regular store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
