Pancakes for Charity

March 1 is National Pancake Day. Eat up!

Not only is today March 1—which means we’re one step closer to spring—it’s also National Pancake Day. Traditionally, pancake day was celebrated on Mardi Gras (or Shrove Tuesday) and served as a means for people to use up all their dairy before Lent began. Today, it’s more of an excuse to eat a ton of pancakes and feel less guilty than if you’d ordered a double stack on a typical Tuesday. But in case you need more of an incentive to stuff yourself silly with flapjacks and syrup, IHOP is offering free—that’s right, FREE—pancakes from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. today. Since you’ll be eating for free, why not donate the money you would have spent to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities? Last year, IHOP raised more than $2.1 million for the cause and is aiming for $2.3 million this year. So there you have it: three perfectly good reasons to celebrate National Pancake Day to the fullest (no pun intended). Happy dining!
