Fun was had by all this month, in support of two great charities:

Treehouse Gala

May 19, 2011 • The Depot Minneapolis

The gala featured eight-time Olympic medalist Apolo Anton Ohno as guest speaker as well as Committed, winner of NBC’s The Sing-Off! All proceeds from the event went to the TreeHouse, a nonprofit aimed at providing assistance and resources to at-risk youth and families in need.

Open Arms Moveable Feast

May 19, 2011 • Golden Valley Country Club

The Open Arms 2011 Moveable Feast featured plenty of live music, dancing, food and fun. The event raised over $250,000 for Open Arms to ensure that its programs are carried out. The nonprofit provides healthy and nutritious meals to community members with life-threatening diseases.

Sue Zelickson (Sue Z.) is a James Beard Award-winning food media personality, philanthropist, and longtime contributor to Minnesota Monthly and WCCO radio. She has founded the Charlie Awards, the Women Who Really Cook networking organization for women in the local food industry, and the Kids Cafe at Perspectives, Inc., which improves access to nutritious meals for families in need. You can find her buzzing around from event to event throughout the Twin Cities, helping to raise funds for charitable organizations, including some she has had a hand in building.
