Ready, Set, Shop

I just came from International Market Square, where I got a preview of the offerings in the annual ASID Great Finds Designer Home Furnishings Sample Sale. I couldn’t believe some of the price tags I spotted—this Century raw silk sofa (regularly $5,860) for $1,995 and the aged eglomise cocktail table is $1,475 (regularly $3,750). And plenty more—prices on designer furniture, home accents, and décor items are 50 to 80 percent off the original retail. A record 34 showrooms are participating this year, with bargains large and small in a Couture Room, Designer Flea Market, and Rug Bazaar. My advice: Go for it. The sale at IMS runs today, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

And if that isn’t enough for you, head on over to the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District for Art Attack this weekend, and browse through the studios of hundreds of artists, photographers, potters, sculptors, jewelers, weavers, furniture makers, and more in the Northrup King, Casket Arts, and California buildings. The timing for early holiday shopping couldn’t be better.
