Reality Check

The Walker Art Center’s new show blurs reality and illusion, but its kick-off party really rocked. For real.

Event: Walker After Hours: Faux Real, celebrating the Walker Art Center’s newest exhibition, Lifelike, was held Friday, February 24.

Fashionably Fake: Taking a cue from Lifelike, where everyday objects are recreated in surreal ways, guests crafted high-fashion looks from faux fur, pleather, and costume jewelry.

Bust a Move: Guests rocked out to funk and soul tunes spun by the Hipshaker deejays and enjoyed food and drinks from D’Amico.

Part of the Art: Between songs and snacks, guests cloned themselves in the imitation Art Lab and got their photo taken in a jumbo version of Party People Pictures.

See and Be Seen: Among the 1,550 guests were film producer Elizabeth Redleaf, Maurice Blanks of BluDot, and MIA director Kaywin Feldman.
