Rebuilding it Right

It’s been more than two months since a tornado devastated a large swath of North Minneapolis, but residents are still recovering and rebuilding. In an effort to help, the Minneapolis and Minnesota chapters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) have organized an initiative to lend a hand in restoring the area.

With the “Rebuilding it Right” effort, the architects will work with the Northside Community Recovery Team, the City of Minneapolis, the U.S. Green Building Council Minnesota, Architecture for Humanity Minnesota, The Assembly of Architects, and other local nonprofits to assist in the thoughtful rebuilding of local homes. As well as collaborating with contractors and vendors, architects will offer assistance to homeowners on a pro-bono basis. The hope is to maintain the architectural heritage of the neighborhood, and help ensure the quality and durability of rebuilds.
