Can an honest, live-action children’s show about trains succeed?

On June 2, the first episode of the new season of the Choo-Choo Bob Show will premiere on stations throughout the Upper Midwest. If it catches on, it will become the first local television show for kids to do so in a generation, if not two. More than that, however, it would confirm an appetite for children’s programming that isn’t produced by Disney or by a toy-maker and features actual live people, not hyperactive, smart-aleck cartoons.
