Watch out, Minneapolis: Gary Busey’s coming to town. The larger-than-life actor with the most famous smile in showbiz (sorry, Julia) will be at Parkway Theater Friday, February 3, to commemorate the 53rd anniversary of Buddy Holly’s death. Busey, who portrayed the rock ’n’ roll pioneer in the 1978 film The Buddy Holly Story (which snagged him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor), will be around before and after the show to chat with fans about his role and ongoing friendship with the Holly family.
After the movie, he’ll join the trio who played The Crickets (Holly’s band) during the History Theatre’s production of Buddy last year to perform some classic Buddy Holly songs. Grab your horn-rimmed glasses, practice your twist, and follow the beam of light reflecting off Busey’s toothy grin to Parkway Theater.
