It may be my job to support local shops, but really – I love them. We have the friendliest, most creative bunch of boutique owners here, and what they do for this community’s retail landscape is nothing short of revolutionary. I get giddy every time I visit Bluebird, Letterbox, or Corazon – to name but a few. I think, How great is this place?!? Inside, I’m jumping up and down. In terms of retail as therapy, it’s about the experience, not just the buying.
When I travel, I seek out the local boutiques, too. Not because I tend to shop much when I travel (eating, sleeping, and reading tend to take over), but because it’s one more way to uncover the city’s personality, sans tourists. While I haven’t been to Columbus, Ohio, I imagine it’s a lot like the Twin Cities, where small shops are making big impressions. Columbus is probably far more stylish than one would think, especially considering that one probably doesn’t often think
about Columbus. My point is that I already feel a connection to Rowe, a
hip clothing boutique that Twin Cities native Maren Roth recently
opened in Columbus. She saw a need, and filled it with
trendy-yet-wearable designes for men and women. I have no doubt that
Ohioans (yes, this is a word) jump for joy when they shop there.
What does this have to do with you, dear readers? Well, this week Maren returns to her roots, with Rowe in tow. She’s hosting a trunk show at a friend’s home, and you are invited. Shop Rowe’s winter collection of clothing, jewelry, handbags, and accessories, while sipping cocktails. I hope to go, and raise a glass to Maren.
