Every little thing she does….is magic? So sayeth Sting, apparently, about Sarah Hicks. The Grammy Award-winning rocker has tapped the Minnesota Orchestra pops conductor to tour Europe with him this summer, when his acclaimed “Symphonicity” tour hits Germany, France, and Italy, among other countries. The former Police-man will perform his greatest hits, recast in arrangements for orchestra.
For Hicks, a classically-trained conductor who has raised eyebrows in some circles for choosing to specialize in pops performances, it’s a dream come true. “I’m beyond excited,” she says, admitting she’s a little star-struck, despite having already lead orchestras in collaborations with John Mayer and other rockers, which surely helped land her the Sting gig. So who, we’re wondering, will be next? Is that Lady Gaga on the phone?
