Scenes from the Green Expo: New Hardscape Pattern from Belgard

A new blanket of snow had just fallen on the metro, but last week the Convention Center in downtown Minneapolis was abuzz with talk of greener days ahead. The annual Green Expo, sponsored by the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association, finished up on Friday, and Midwest Home editor Chris Lee and I took a little detour to sleuth out the most interesting new products for 2009. One of the first things to catch my eye was the new Mega-Laffit pattern from Belgard Hardscapes, out of West Bend, Wisconsin. Most patterned concrete pavers looks each alike because they come out of a mold, but this new pattern has marked distinctions in each “stone.” Even the dimensions were off-balanced, which actually made it look closer to a custom walkway that had been laid by hand with chunks of real stone. It’s not going to be out until August, but the Minnesota Territory Manager for the company assures me that it will be available through Hedberg Landscape.
