Event: The ninth-annual Diamond Awards were held on Thursday, January 23, at Target Field.
Reason: The Diamond Awards honor Minnesota Twins who performed spectacular feats both on and off the field in the previous season. This year’s event benefitted research, education, and care related to brain, nerve, and muscle disorders at the University of Minnesota.
Honored: Seven Twins, Including Joe Mauer, Glen Perkins, and Caleb Thielbar, took home a total of nine awards honoring everything from Most Valuable Twin to Pitcher of the Year to Most Outstanding Rookie, Respectively.
Going, Going…: A silent auction featured a Joe Mauer autographed Twins jersey, a 1987 World Series Champions autographed baseball, and a wine tasting for four to Canon River Winery, among other items.
