The Diamond Awards celebrate top Twins players while supporting research at the University of Minnesota

Event:  The Eighth annual Diamond Awards were held Thursday, January 24, at Target Field in downtown Minneapolis.

Cause: More than $2.5 million has been raised during the history of the Diamond Awards for research at the U of M to find cures for ALS, ataxia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, and Parkinson’s disease.

Pep Talk: One of the highlights from the evening was when 17-year-old Emily Blosberg shared her inspiring story. Both she and her father are living with multiple sclerosis.

All-star Line Up: Many Minnesota Twins players were in attendance, including Joe Mauer (Upper Midwest Player of the Year), Justin Morneau (Twins Leadership), and Scott Diamond (Twins Pitcher of the Year and Twins Outstanding Rookie), all of whom received Diamond Awards.
