I’m delighted when people share their gorgeous homes with us here at Midwest Home! Homeowner Michelle Kalina sent me some pics of her brand-new house in Rochester, designed by Steve Kleineman, principal of SKD Architects, who we’ve featured before. I was particularly impressed with her kitchen designed by Tricia Tideman at North Star Kitchens with the super-cool “Circles” tile from New York company Mixed-Up Mosaics (available at Fantasia). The sheen of the tile and the crazy patterning acts as a nice foil for the minimal feel of the rest of the room, an effect they definitely wouldn’t have gotten with a safer tile choice. I’m also loving Michelle’s carpeting choice for the sitting room—the pattern keeps the room feeling fresh and contemporary, and not at all like a beige showplace. Michelle tells me the vendor is Stark.
