Tackling Hunger

Minnesota Vikings players raise awareness and funds to help feed kids in need

Event: The annual Taste of the Vikings event was held Monday, November 19, at the Mall of America’s Nickelodeon Universe.

Cause:  Some 1,500 people came to mingle with former and current Vikings players while enjoying food from 20 local restaurants and wine and beer samples from E & J Gallo and MillerCoors. More than $125,000 was raised for the Vikings Children’s Fund Summer Lunch Program, which provides meals to children in need when school is not in session.

Box It Up: In the Feed the Need area, lunch boxes were sold for $50—buying one guaranteed a chance to meet players and receive a gift valued at $50 or more.

Going Once, Going Twice: The silent-auction item that garnered the highest bid was a jersey worn and autographed by Adrian Peterson.
