The First Annual Charlie Awards

The first-ever Charlie Awards honored the best of the Twin Cities’ restaurant and dining community

Event: The inaugural Charlie Awards, an Oscar-style awards ceremony honoring chefs, servers, and restaurateurs, was on November 20 at the Pantages Theater.  

And the Award Goes to…: FOX 9 alum Robyne Robinson emceed the event, and presenters included Andrew Zimmern, Minneapolis mayor R.T. Rybak, hotshot bartenders Pip Hanson and Dan Oskey, and Minnesota Monthly dining critic Dara Moskowitz Grumdahl.

Be Our Guest: Entertainment included musical numbers from Erin Schwab and Davina and the Vagabonds, plus  a surprise appearance from the ghost of Julia Child.

Hobnob: After the show, the party spilled into the IDS Center’s Crystal Court, where guests sipped cocktails and ate hors d’oeuvres prepared by students of the area’s culinary schools.
