» What sets your district apart from the competition? We are nationally recognized for using classroom technology as an accelerator of learning. All classrooms are fully equipped with SMART Boards, projectors, and sound fields that gently amplify a teacher’s voice so every student hears instruction as if they were in the front row.
» You might not realize: Our district offers a language immersion option at every neighborhood elementary school. Families may select Chinese, Spanish, or our well-respected English program. Approximately half of all District kindergarteners enroll in a language immersion program, with the goal of fluency in a second language by fifth grade.
» How do you keep your competitive edge? We are constantly innovating, market-driven, and don’t rest on our laurels. We have focused on technology and specialty programs to attract families seeking excellence in education.
» In addition: 140 members of Minnetonka’s Class of 2010 scored a 30 or higher on the ACT; that’s more students than most private schools enroll in an entire senior class. Our district also ranks No. 1 in the metro area on the state reading test and second on the state math and science tests—the only district ranking in the top three on all three state tests.

» Finish this sentence: Eastern Carver County teachers are… professionals who recognize the promise and potential of their students with a rigorous curriculum, high expectations and nurturing environments designed to challenge students and support learning.
» What sets District 112 apart from other school districts? We innovate without mandates. If we can’t find the program or curriculum we need, we develop it. A good example is the recent redesign of the secondary program for grades 6-12. This initiative’s foundation is to ensure all graduates are ready for success in a post-secondary education program. Graduation requirements increased to include two years of a world language and additional credits in math and science. A new advanced electives framework offers students deeper exploration in four Areas of Interest: Arts and Communication; Global Studies; Health Science & Human Services; and STEM. Students have multiple opportunities to earn college credit while in high school. And now, a similar focus at the elementary level will enhance an already strong program by moving toward a continuous progress model that allows students to move through the curriculum as they are able, rather than strict adherence to age/grade configuration, initiating a Spanish language program, embedding STEM concepts in core curriculum, and focusing on creating culturally competent students.
