This is an excellent example of a vintage chair recovered in the right scale. I found a pair of chairs outside a vintage shop in Santiago, Chile. From probably the 1940s or 1950s, the chairs had their original blond wood peg legs.
The fabric chosen to recover the pair was textured velveteen, which is made from silk and cotton. The sides, back and base of the chair are covered in navy velvet.
I love the way the pattern of the fabric is applied directionally to the chair’s bulbous arms and back, making them appear more slender. The pattern is Moroccan and Mid-century mashed together for that boho feel. I can imagine sitting in these chairs near the fire up in the cool Chilean mountains.
