This Weekend: Arts Events in Northeast

There’s always something nifty going on in this buzzing little city of ours, but I’m particularly excited for this weekend. Here are a couple happenings I’ll be checking out, you should pop by too!

Art Attack!
The annual event at Northrup King is sure to be a draw. With open studios and over 200 artists’ work on display (plus live music and demonstrations) it’s a great way to while away a Saturday and start on your holiday shopping. Amazing handmade furniture? Check. Gorgeous sculptural housewares? Of course. Sassy letterpress prints? You bet. And much, much more. Even if you don’t plan to buy, pop in to get a peek at what’s up in the Minneapolis art and design scene—with extra-late hours on Friday, you can have dinner, see a movie, and still have time for some local culture.

Cache at the Casket
Same idea, same time, and—conveniently—the Casket Arts building is also located in the Northeast Arts District, so it’s easy to hit both events in one afternoon. Convenient, no? In addition to the heaps of talented artists on site and even more live music, Cache at the Casket promises Surly and catering from Chowgirls on Friday and Saturday nights, so you can grab a beer and some dinner, and peruse the studios. What’s more, recent HomeDish feature FindFurnish is in the Casket, so you can drop by and see the shop in person. Don’t miss it!
