St. Paul artist Sarah Kusa didn’t dive into a dumpster for this chair, but almost. She spied it in an alley and decided it had possibilities. After a coat of paint, caning made of stiffened yard and wire, and re-upholstery in screen-printed, natural linen … the chair is just barely recognizable as the same piece of furniture.
Kusa produces hand-printed yardage for $85 and up, and incorporates it in pieces as ordered or as found and inspiration strikes. She’ll also print on tables, floors, and other flat surfaces.
