Twin Cities Go Red For Women Annual Lunch & Learn

SPECIAL ADVERTISING SECTION

Join us in this annual celebration to raise money for research to beat the No. 1 killer of women – heart disease. The Lunch & Learn will feature educational sessions, health screenings, and a keynote speaker.

Nationally sponsored by Macy’s and Merck, Go Red For Women began in February 2004, and has since grown into a vibrant national movement as more women, men, celebrities, healthcare professionals and politicians embrace and elevate the cause of women and heart disease.

The 2009 Go Red Campaign Chair, Jean Holloway, vice president and senior legal counsel for Medtronic’s Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management, offers the following heart-healthy tips: “Exercise with other people. It makes it more fun and you’ll be more likely to stick to a routine.” (Jean is involved in a running group and loves the camaraderie.)

Snack on fruits or raw veggies rather than chips or pretzels, know your family’s medical history, and find healthy outlets for minimizing stress, she says.

And when it comes to protecting your heart, don’t forget to laugh. A recent study shows that laughter, along with a good sense of humor, may help prevent heart disease.
