Twin Cities Go Red For Women Luncheon
When?  Thursday, February 8 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where?  Macy’s 8th floor auditorium, 700 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis

Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 health threat facing women today. According to the American Heart Association, it kills nearly half a million women each year at the rate of about one woman per minute. The good news is that for the most part, heart disease can be prevented through a healthy lifestyle.

One way women are learning to take control is through the Twin Cities Go Red For Women Luncheon, an empowering social event designed to encourage women to become champions of their heart health. The half-day event is part of the nationwide Go Red For Women movement, helping women recognize and reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke to ultimately live longer, stronger, healthier lives.

The Go Red For Women Luncheon will feature a guest speaker, three educational workshops, health screenings, medical and non-medical exhibits, and various activities. Macy’s Design Cuisine will be preparing a heart-healthy lunch with the assistance of a local dietician.

The goals of the Go Red For Women Luncheon are to:

  • Take part in the national Go Red For Women movement to stop heart disease from claiming the lives of so many women.
  • Create a venue of passion and interest to women, making heart disease and stroke relevant.
  • Issue a call-to-action that motivates women to be advocates for their own health.
  • Provide a source of fundraising to support American Heart Association research and education.
