Summer is the season of parades, and what better way to kick things off than with the 82nd annual Celebrate Northeast Parade. Like all good parades, it features floats galore, community royalty practicing their best waves (elbow-elbow-wrist-wrist), crazy Shriner’s Club members (watch your toes!), thundering high-school marching bands, hand-shaking local politicians, and every community organization in existence. Crowds usual number around 8,000, so come early, bring a blanket to claim your chunk of curb along the 13-block route on Central Avenue, and warm up your hands for an evening full of clapping and waving.
