Get Away this Winter to a Special Minnesota Destination

Explore Minnesota Tourism, the state’s tourism office, makes it easy to plan a winter getaway. The season brings lots of excuses to treat yourself to a break: long holiday weekends, Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, birthdays, fresh snow on the trails, or simply, cabin fever. A convenient starting point for your trip is the Explore Minnesota web site www.exploreminnesota.com.

Check out the “Deals” and “Packages” section  of the website. Under “Deals,” you’ll find special offers and last-minute vacancies. You can also subscribe to get these weekly listings by e-mail.

The seasonal travel packages included on the website combine two nights lodging with an off-site attraction, activity, or dining experience. For example, a package could include two nights at a historic inn and tickets to a theater performance. The packages are a quick way to select and plan a winter escape.

Both the deals and travel package sections of the website are organized by geographic area of the state: northeast, north central/west, south, and Twin Cities metro area. You can use the site to search for B&Bs, resorts, dogsled outfitters, and much more.

The website also includes updated snow condition and trail reports, so you can plan a last-minute getaway where the snow is. (Even if there’s not much white stuff in your backyard, chances are someplace else in the state has a decent accumulation.) Recorded snow reports are also available by calling 888-TOURISM (888-868-7476).
