Miss Minnesota, Savannah Cole, is a 19-year-old Junior at North Dakota State University. After becoming crowned Miss Minnesota earlier in the year, she began her journey to the Miss America competition. During her introduction in the Miss America preliminaries, Savannah gave the audience a taste of Minnesota by describing the five seasons in Minnesota: Summer, Winter, Winter, Winter, and Road Construction.
This year, Savannah will work to inform and increase awareness of epilepsy, while erasing the stereotypes surrounding it, and promote epilepsy education in schools. During the on-stage question at the Miss America preliminary, Savannah explained her platform, Epilepsy: Bringing it Out of the Shadows. She taught the audience how to respond to someone having a seizure. Her advise is to remember the three Cs: 1) Clear the area 2) Call 911 and 3) Remain calm when the person comes out of their seizure.
At the Miss America preliminaries on September 11, Savannah blew the roof of with her talent – “House of the Rising Sun” by the Animals.
Miss Minnesota, Savannah Cole, will compete for the title of Miss America at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Sunday, September 14 live on ABC.
