Ashley Mary iPhone Cases Hit Target Shelves This Week

Last year, Minneapolis artist Ashley Mary was tapped to design prints for a line of cosmetic bags sold exclusively at Target. The colorful, patterned pouches were a hit—and now she’s back with a collection of iPhone 6 and 7 cases, which are slated to his Target stores this week. The eight designs, now available both at Target stores and at target.com, range from bold proclamations (”Hi, World”) in graphic text to prints derived from her original paintings, and were created in collaboration with Twin Cities design studio Cities Market Studios, which counts Target as a client.

“One of my goals in with my freelance artwork has definitely been to get more into surface design and the tech world has been on my list of avenues to pursue,” says Mary. “Cities Market Studios reached out to me early this year as they were familiar with my artwork and past cosmetic bags with Target. We had some fun conversations about what a series could look like with a mix of my original artwork, illustrated designs, and novelty patterns and it turned into a great partnership.” Barlow also designed the packaging for the cases.

The artist has certainly had a busy 2016 so far—she recently debuted some removable wallpaper designs created exclusively for Ciel Loft & Home’s new flagship store in St. Louis Park, and currently is exhibiting five large, original paintings at the Kit and Ace store at Mall of America, on display through November.

To celebrate the line, Mary directed a photo shoot of the new product with Megan Gonzalez of Mae Mae Co. and photographer Lauren Krysti:
