Blanket Statement

The Askov Finlayson brand is continuing to evolve. Earlier this fall, it was the announcement of Askov Finlayson branded, American-made products: the North stocking cap—which they can barely keep in stock—the hockey puck, the duffle bag, and the Explorer pant. (I love the teal pair, myself.)

The latest reveal is a collaboration with the once-defunct, now-humming Faribault Woolen Mill Co.; Askov Finlayson has carried the brand in the store since its opening. The Dayton brothers are calling their limited-run product “the Zag blanket”—which appears to be a play off the early branding that hung in their first window displays.

The blanket is made of domestically sourced merino wool and cotton and double woven on a jacquard loom, which makes it perfect for snowy snuggling. I mean, it’s coming for us, whether we like it or not, so we might as well be outfitted properly for it, right?

But there’s a second collaboration afoot: Askov Finlayson is using the buy one, give one model (popularized by national brand Toms shoes) to warm the homeless population in Minneapolis, too. After an introduction to executive director Margaret Miles by Mayor R.T. Rybak, the Daytons learned the organization—which seeks to both tend to the current homeless population with necessary services and also address the underlying issues of homelessness—was usually in need of blankets during the cold winter months.

The blanket is now available for $185 on askovfinlayson.com
