Blue-Ribbon Retail

The rebirth of great menswear in the Twin Cities continues with Bluepeg

Bluepeg is a shop name with a charming provenance. Owner Adam Tischler was taking retail maven Sacha Martin (Bluebird Boutique, Ladyslipper) on a date. When he asked if he should pick her up, she said, “I’m not sure how you played the game of Life … but when I played, the blue peg was always in the driver’s seat and the pink peg was always in the passenger seat.”

Driving with Martin was a good idea. Now, Tischler is opening Bluepeg at 50th & France with her. Tischler’s no slouch; his effortless, casual style permeates the shop.

Find plaid wovens by Zachary Prell, sweaters by Vince, and affordable Life After Denim jeans. Pierrepont Hicks provides bowties and neckties, and Wolverine boots, Nixon watches, and a few vintage pieces add standout details. Local artist Martzia Thometz drew the pinup-girl artwork for the walls—and it’s for sale.

So maybe Tischler is the blue peg in another way—driving men’s fashion in the right direction.
