Consider me obsessed. It’s no secret I think Katherine McMillan of Pierrepont Hicks and mrsphicks has crazy-good style. But I just spotted previews of her line on Pinterest (let’s be friends!) and once again, I’m totally thrilled. (Man, she must be incredibly busy, designing and creating away.)
I have been piling on the navy blue lately, and was just commisserating with our marketing director yesterday about lack of stylish blue shoes—and then these shoes (pictured at right) appeared on my screen, like a gift from the gods. (Cue choirs of angels singing now.) There are also chukka and camp moc styles going up on the site next week. I can’t wait to see how these boots look paired with shorts and a slouchy, summerweight plaid shirt, or paired unexpectedly with a nautical-striped T-shirt dress. Um. Not that I’m already planning a wardrobe around them or anything.
And then! Pierrepont Hicks, her neckwear and accessories brand with her husband, Mac, has a spring launch too, with a fun, new surprise: handsome Italian linen cummerbunds that are lined in an ecru shantung silk. Such an update from the silk cummerbunds we’re used to seeing, as she mentioned to me today by e-mail. Impeccable, non? These totally makes me wish my husband and I were planning a summer wedding again—and that’s saying a lot, since I ran away to get married. The quality and strategic thinking is evident with both the brands—I feel like I say this all the time, but we are so lucky to have such thoughtful, talented designers here in Minnesota.
