Cardamom Collective Makes Its Debut

Following a revelatory trip to India last year, Kelly Moe-Rossetto returned home to Minnesota inspired to start her own textile line. She soon joined forces with her business partner, Gina Czupka, to form the label Cardamom Collective. The pair works directly with printers based in India to design a line of colorful, patterned scarves using natural dyes and centuries-old, hand-blocking and weaving processes.

True to its name, Cardamom Collective also encompasses a selection of artisan-made items collected from around the world. Its soon-to-be-launched e-commerce site will include an exclusive line of silver talisman pendants as well as a line of ikat scarves, shawls, and napkins handwoven at a women’s co-op in India, plus organic teas, small-batch incense, bags, salves, watercolor travel tins, and other global treasures. The pair is also beginning to work in woven textiles with artisans in Peru, Guatemala, and India.

This weekend, Moe-Rossetto and Czupka host their first trunk show at Khazana Imported Arts and Textiles along with jewelry from local brand Bouchard Design Co. During the event, which kicks off with an opening reception and artist talk on Thursday night, Cardamom Collective will release of a special collaborative scarf with Bouchard Design Co. (Opening reception 6 p.m. artist talk 7 p.m. Thu., Nov. 12.; 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Fri., Nov. 13 & Sat., Nov. 14, 2225 Lyndale Ave S, Minneapolis, 612-339-4565, khazana.com.)

Cardamom Collective will also be a featured vendor alongside Bodylish, Annika Kaplan Jewelry, Fringe & Fettle Ceramics, and others at the Marché de Fetes holiday shopping event on November 18, curated by local handbag line Spring Finn & Co. (4–9 p.m. 3145 E. Calhoun Pkwy., Mpls.)
