Dress Code

If there’s one fashion item I can’t get enough of—especially in the summer months—it’s dresses (well, and skirts). Spring is my favorite season, and without fail, I become infected with Spring Shopping Sickness every April or May. The most obvious symptom is the Dress Obsession, which is in full force as I type this. Being that they’re one piece, they make an easy, pulled-together statement, even if you forgo accessories.  I love how maintenance-free they are; how they minimize my getting-ready routine. I even love how the hemline brushes against my legs as I walk.

My latest obsession is this Spiced Dress from—where else—Anthropologie. I wouldn’t call it a steal at $188, but it has the prettiest detailing on the bodice and the full skirt is incredibly dreamy: You know that the skirt would flare out poetically if someone were to, say, twirl you around in a meadow filled with butterflies. (Other symptom of Spring Shopping Sickness: Delusion).

But it’s the maxi dress that’s long on style this season, and I did one maxi dress, two ways for our June issue. Assistant editor Ellen Burkhardt and I also profiled 10 more dresses we love here.

Tell me: Is spring your favorite season to shop? What can’t you resist?
