Faribault Woolen Mill Moves From Sofa to Street

For nearly 150 years, Faribault Woolen Mill has been manufacturing its iconic wool blankets and throws, and it continues to thrive due to the increasing popularity of American heritage style. Last fall, the company collaborated with Target on a line of blankets and wool goods for the holiday season.

Now, the company has debuted its first fashion line, a collection of capes and vests crafted from some of its most popular fabrics and patterns. “Capes and shawls have become such a big thing right now,” says the mill’s marketing guru Bruce Bildsten. “Who better than us to make them?”

For those who want to take the warmth and style of Faribault wool from the couch to the streets, the collection includes a blanket cape (available in both hooded and collared versions) made from the mill’s popular military-inspired blanket, a fringed cape made from the company’s Huntley plaid throw, and a herringbone-print blanket vest. • faribaultmill.com
