Graphic designer Crystal Zavada opened her one-woman gift shop, Belle Weather, while the snow was still piled high on the boulevards and shoppers were deep into post-holiday hibernation. Located next to June (the high-end resale shop) and two doors down from the newly opened Bull Run Coffee and OM Collective, Belle Weather has added its crafty style to what has become a bustling little shopping stop.
The store has an independent, neighborhoody feel (there’s a book exchange in the back) that is both sassy and cheerful. The small giftables make budget-friendly presents for most occasions: think picture frames, magnets, small housewares, jewelry, soy candles, and locally made bath and body-care products from Simply Mahvelous. I loved the handmade linens and aprons, which are perfect housewarming gifts.
Belle Weather has turned out to be a sunny little spot to shop. No matter the weather.
