It’s mid-May, and your yard possibly looks like a mess. (Mine does.) Where to start? How about the annual, massive Friends School Plant Sale this weekend at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand.
There are almost 2,300 different varietals to choose from, and it’s for a good cause: Friends School of Minnesota in St. Paul is a K-8 school “committed to the Quaker values of peace, justice, simplicity and integrity.” They make a true effort to support students of all means.
The total plant list is staggering, and can be searched on their site if you want to do a little research or look for something in particular. Expect annuals, perennials, vegetables, trees, shrubs, and more. You can even create a list of what you like on their site, making shopping—hopefully—a bit easier.
The sale already is in motion, and runs through Sunday:
- Friday, May 11 – 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Saturday, May 12 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sunday, May 13 – 12 to 4 p.m.
Parking is free on the Fairgrounds. Cash, credit cards, and checks are accepted. Tip: If you own a wagon or something handy on wheels, bring it—there’s a limited number of carts for shoppers to borrow.
