Since I’m a writer, I’m often tasked with crafting the message inside the card for group gifts. I don’t mind, of course, but in case you’re not among my gift-giving circles, local wordsmith Alexandra Franzen just released 50 Ways to Say You’re Awesome, a book that becomes 50 separate notes you can tear out and give to your sweetheart, colleagues, or friends—“even the foxy barista,” Franzen says. “We’re all secretly longing for somebody to look us in the eye and say, ‘I see you. I get you. You’re awesome,’” she explains. Franzen’s taken the work out of giving praise—but not the heart.
