Two separate conventions both celebrate comics and their durable cultural impact this month: Wizard World’s Minneapolis Comic Con at the Convention Center is impressively studded with appearances by a small galaxy of comics and sci-fi stars including The Lord of the Rings’ Sean Astin and the archly ironic Starfleet captain William Shatner. The Midwest Comic Book Association’s Springcon at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds is the homegrown variant, with comic dealers, creators, and a variety of goodies.
