Gather ’round and listen up, ladies and gents—especially gents, or ladies or other gents who love them—oh, nevermind, listen up EVERYBODY.
This weekend, if you don’t get to Architectural Antiques in Minneapolis, you will be missing one of the best and most fleeting of shopping experiences in the Twin Cities this year.
I’m so not exaggerating.
It’s NorthernGRADE. It’s here! Even if you have no idea what I’m yet talking about, you should flail your arms happily in the air and maybe do a little dance (it is Friday, after all). Founded by two amazing local brands, Pierrepont Hicks and J.W. Hulme, this pop-up shop is the only exclusively men’s-only Made-in-USA pop-up shop.
A common complaint I hear from friends and acquaintances alike is this: I don’t know what to BUY my husband/boyfriend/dad/brother/best guy friend. I recommend you tally up how many gifts you plan to buy this male in your life in the next few months and stock up.
You’ll get to meet the faces behind the brands of the likes of: Byrd and Belle and Faribault Woolen Mill Co., and shopkeepers and curators behind BlackBlue and Askov Finlayson. Test out some Duluth Packs or beaver-fur blankets from Fur Armour. Covet midcentury furniture from Golden Age Design. Peruse Doane Paper goods or Stormy Kromer menswear.
There are tasty snacks and drinks, and so many solid, well-made, stylish goods. Please tell me I’ll see you there. And if you’re looking for a fun happy hour to kick it off, head over to the Bachelor Farmer tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., where Askov Finlayson and Hodinkee will host.
12-7 p.m. Saturday; 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Sunday at Architectural Antiques, 1330 Quincy St. NE, Mpls.
