Good news, art hounds: the St. Paul Art Crawl starts tonight. Working its way through 25 buildings in Lowertown and other St. Paul neighborhoods, the crawl features more than 250 Twin Cities artists who will be opening their doors to exhibit and sell their work.
With only 17 hours to see, hear, and do everything at the Art Crawl, we’ve come up with a few tips to help you make the most of your weekend art adventure.
Tip #1: Fill Your Passport
The Art Crawl Passport is the main activity for crawlers. At each building, get your passport stamped and then compare stamps with fellow art-crawl goers later. Your passport can also unlock special prizes over the weekend: just five stamps qualifies you to win the grand prize drawing for an iPad mini. Be sure to track down Josephine Geiger and her colorful posters (below left) and David Witt to see his “The Custodian,” (below right) in person.
Tip #2: Party It Up
Check out tonight’s launch party. It starts at 4 p.m. and is hosted by the Minnesota Museum of American Art, featuring live music, drinks from Big Top Liquors, and a sneak peek of this summer’s all-night art event (June 8), Northern Spark.
