Joy To The World

Joy Teiken’s frothy, fabulous Joynoëlle designs make me want to get married all over again (of course to the same person, love you, honey!). I would even think about a winter wedding, instead of my Hawaiian beach wedding, because her styling (Wintercraft ice globes!) and pieces are just that good.

Part of the reason she regularly tops my Best of the Twin Cities lists is because she never misses a detail and always, always stays true to her vision, or at least what I perceive to be her mission: elevating style in the Twin Cities, with a beautiful, wearable, slightly off-kilter (think a reined-in Helena Bonham Carter) piece. And her designs regularly appear in Women’s Wear Daily for a similar reason. What she creates truly inspires that knee-buckling, swoony, starry-eyed posture in almost every woman I know who spies her pieces. And, she’s also a very nice person, which never hurts.

Joy unveiled her 2012 collection this past Monday at the Grand Café, orchestrated by Alyson Newquist events, Vision models, Extrados hair and makeup, Lime Canary vintage props, and oh, the Flora Bella flowers.

So let’s kick back and watch a fashion designer in the prime of her career, shall we? Love what you see? Get some time with Joy in her atelier: 3804 Grand Ave. S., Mpls., 612-209-7822.
