Local Mother's Day Gifts

Mother’s Day is early this year—Sunday the 8th. Shoppers, take your marks. Get her something special. Here are two places to do so:

Each year the Walker Art Center hosts the Walker Art Jewelry Mart, where local jewelry designers can show off their wares—and the public can purchase them. I can’t stress enough how much more meaningful a gift can be when you purchase from a local artist. Especially at an event like this, where you can talk to the artist and get the stories behind the pieces and have them hand-select something from their collection.

The Walker really has a great lineup of artists together—19 in all—to represent a wide range of jewelry tastes. You’re sure to find something for the mom or mom-figure in your life. Here are a few of my favorite picks:

You can kick off your Mother’s Day shopping tonight in at the Pilney Building in St. Paul for the latest W7 Collective event: Fun, Fresh, and Fabulous. There, you can pick up a handbag by BC Designs or jewelry from Realia by Jen, Irely Intimates, or the latest, the Shhh Bar by Becky Sturm of StormSister Spatique. (Plus, you’ll get some free treats and treatments and massages from Burley’s Salon for your effort.)
