Locals Perform She-Rock Tribute at Turf Club

A tribute to women in music.

The first installment of the Twin Cities ‘Girl Germs’ concert series launched last May, showcasing the top female talent in local music. For its latest installment, set for this Saturday, January 10th at St. Paul’s Turf Club, woman rockers will pay tribute to famous female musicians past and present.

Each of five local musicians have studied up on a single artist, and the genres vary enough to please any taste. Vocalist Aby Wolf (who’s known to join forces with hip-hop icon Dessa Darling from time to time) will flash back to the ’80s, to perform from Kate Bush’s songbook. The Minneapolis-based Alpha Consumer has the ode to the Queen of Soul, with Aretha Franklin’s classics. Local acts Kitten Forever, Yoni Yum, and K Raydio will also channel their styles through the likes of Marianne Faithfull, Erykah Badu, and Beyoncé.

This one is a chance to discover local, up-and-coming artists through familiar songs—a ladies’ night that’s bound to be soulful, raucous, and empowering all at the same time.
