Following last week’s confirmation that Macy’s will close its downtown Minneapolis flagship in March, comes the announcement of its closing sale. The sale begins today and is expected to last 10 to 12 weeks. While no specific details on discounts have been made public, shoppers should expect discounts of 20 to 40 percent storewide this week, with deepening price cuts as March nears. But don’t expect discounts in leased departments, such as cosmetics and fragrances, which typically are not included in store closing sales. This month is also your last chance to visit the restaurants on the 12th floor, including the Oak Grill and the Skyroom, which will close on January 27. In other retail liquidation news, the Limited is closing all of its stores nationwide, and Barnes & Noble on Nicollet Mall has announced it will not be renewing its lease, which ends in May.
