Wedding season is upon us, and chances are you have at least one celebration to attend this summer. But buying a wedding gift from a registry can sometimes take the fun out of shopping for someone you love. Fortunately, a new business is offering a fresh take on the time-saving tradition. Local ceramicist Anna Metcalfe and her business partners launched Gather Art Registry for weddings, anniversaries, and baby showers to offer a local artisanal alternative to giants such as Target and Crate & Barrel. Product categories span home décor and furnishings, jewelry, paintings, photography, and prints from Minnesota artists and makers. Highlights include Japanese-style, shibori-dyed linens, laser-engraved wood coasters and earrings, and tea towels hand-printed with original illustrations, including whimsical bunnies, bugs, and birds. Gather replicates the ease of registries at big-box retailers, but helps the gift-giver feel like they’re making a more thoughtful, personalized choice. gatherartregistry.com
