Before heading out to wait for the bus one cold Minnesota winter day, Maggie Davis found herself having to choose between two coats—one with a collar, one without—and thought, “If only you could take the ruff from one hood to another.” To solve that problem, Davis co-founded Namakan Fur, a startup accessory brand that sells one simple, innovative product: a faux-fur collar, or “ruff,” that can attach to any hood with magnets. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign in which it exceeded its $30,000 goal, the brand is launching with two styles—a rustic faux-coyote style and the more glamorous, rose-gold version—which add a luxe look and ultra-soft feel to any coat.
