On July 26, the stately University Club of Saint Paul opened its patio for the fourth annual pool party at Gatsby’s Mansion, celebrating summer, Caribbean vibes, and the club that F. Scott Fitzgerald himself used to frequent. Musical performances included reggae legends the Meditations (who toured and recorded with Bob Marley), up-and-coming Dominican artist Samantha Moon, and Irie Sol, a genre-blending band known for high energy. A crowd of close to 300 arrived in a whimsical hybrid of 1920s styles and outfits suited for an island beach. They enjoyed a Caribbean-inspired menu of favorites like the pulled jerk chicken sandwich, plus the club’s own Prohibition-era cocktail, the Bootleg.
